Testimonials

Before I met the Chan brothers I had already been involved with Hung Gar for 10 years
and had some training in Mantis and some limited experience with various grabbing arts.
I can't say enough good about the Chan brothers. They have totally changed my outlook
on life. Not just in martial arts, but also in my day-to-day living. Five years ago I
was fairly closed minded and a little arrogant when it came to martial arts. The Chan
brothers made me realize that there is a whole world of martial arts knowledge available.
It doesn't matter what country or system the techniques(s) is derived from; what matters
is whether it is effective or not. The Chan brothers also taught me that real martial
arts require not only hard training, but also putting your pride to the side.
A lot of martial artists are too stubborn. Claiming their system has everything anyone
could ever desire. The Chan brothers made me realize that it takes a true martial artist
to put his or her rank to the side and start over learning a new system. Under their
guidance I not only understand more Hung Gar, but I learn and appreciate JKD, Wing Chun,
Filipino, Silat, etc... because the Chan brothers approach to martial arts is so unique.
They will openly point out a system's strengths and weaknesses. The Chan brothers aren't
stuck in the old, "my system is the best" syndrome. They are honest and genuinely care
about their students.
I can't see how anyone couldn't be impressed with their depth of knowledge. They are too
modest, so I will say it for them. How many instructors do you know that can legitimately
demonstrate Hung Gar, Wing Chun, Mantis, Silat, boxing, and Filipino all on the same day
and still have a smile on their faces? Ask them a question and you get a legitimate answer.
Need help with a technique and they will help you. If I had to summarize the Chan brothers,
two things stick out the most to me: honesty and depth of knowledge.
