Wing Chun

Wing Chun Wing Chun is a Kung Fu system from Southern China. Some of its highlights include: fast hand techniques, proper structure, the center-line theory, sticky hands (chi sau), and chain punching. Like other Southern styles, Wing Chun does not believe in using high kicks for combat. Other training includes two man drills and the famous Wooden Dummy. Emphasis is placed on economy of motion and the theory of, "the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line." Weapons training consist of the butterfly swords and the long pole.

Anyone can learn Wing Chun, but women and men of smaller stature should take particular interest in the system since proper structure is paramount. Power is generally derived through speed as opposed to brute strength. The system concentrates on close range fighting and hitting is preferred to grabbing.
